The North Carolina Athletic Director Association (NCADA) is run by a board and staff who are all sitting athletic directors, people already managing their own programs, with little time left over to build out the association’s marketing and content. NCADA had access to the basic tools like social posting, template graphic vendors. What they didn’t have was a strategy or system to actually produce and distribute content consistently.
That started to change at the NCADA 2025 Conference, where the association invited Pat Kohan, owner of Kohan Content, to speak as a keynote. During the planning process, Kohan Content offered to film the conference, something NCADA had never had done before. After seeing the value the footage brought to their members, NCADA brought Kohan Content on to manage their marketing, content, and conference filming for the 2026–2027 school year.
What NCADA could offer its members grew fast. Posting went from a couple of templated graphics a month to three to five posts a week using real video, not just announcements. Clipped conference footage turned into scheduled social content with real captions and real distribution, not files sitting unused. And all of this led to real engagement.
A marketing strategy now ran year-round instead of around a single weekend, backed by an ongoing membership education strategy and consistent Hall of Fame and awards coverage that hadn’t existed before. The content leaned into what actually makes NCADA distinct — the community, the food, the Southern hospitality that defines the conference experience — rather than a generic recap, which made reaching coaches, middle school ADs, and principals at every stage of their careers easier.
The partnership now runs year-round and includes:
By year three, NCADA had more than doubled its spend with Kohan Content, not just for marketing, but to expand into the full membership experience.
